Mom's Dresses


Using a second-hand dress as the narrative surface, the story Mom’s Dresses by Mónica Carretero is reinterpreted through illustration, transforming the garment into an alternative storytelling format. 

Originally, Mom’s Dresses is a picture book that celebrates the bond between mother and daughter through imagination and clothing. Each of the mother's dresses inspires a unique adventure, from being a brave princess to painting on a white gown, inviting playful reflection and symbolic exploration.

This work explores new approaches to illustration, investigating the expressive potential of textiles as narrative media. In this context, the dress is not only a support for the illustrations but becomes the central element of the story itself.
